Mother's Day

I love Mother's Day--not because it is a day for me to selfishly relax (yeah right) and take a day off from my "mommy" duties. Mother's Day is special to me, because God has shown me what a truly wonderful thing mothers are! I have learned to appreciate all mothers more, because I know that it is a both a tough and rewarding job--all at the same time!

Mother's Day started off rough yesterday. Russ woke up with the stomach virus. YUCK! So "mommy" duty began with a bottle of Lysol and Clorox! We (Owen and I ) got ready for church, and left Daddy at home to recover. After church, Daddy thought he might be up to going to Calhoun to visit Granna and Grandaddy. We made the trip up to Calhoun, but Daddy slept the entire time we were there!

I did get to enjoy the day though. We had a wonderful dinner for the whole family--brother, sister-in-law, cousins (yes...Rebecca came up from Tampa...I miss her!!), aunt and uncle, and Nannie--the matriarch of the group! It was really wonderful (minus Russ feeling so icky). There was a lot of talk about the preparations for Lily, and I got some wonderful advice from my mom, Aunt Janie, and Nannie (three mothers that I really look up to)!

All of the mothers spent the day cooking and cleaning, but also talking, laughing, and enjoying every minute of our extended family! It was perfect! I love Mother's Day!

  1. This is so sweet. Family is just the best. Usually. ;-) I'm looking forward to Denver this week with my fam....

Know what else I'm looking forward to? Seeing some pictures of Lily's room!! Why haven't you posted them, yet? It's not like you have anything going on these days. So, stop dilating and start posting!
