Old Hymn

Today I was ironing and cleaning up a storm as both of my kids were napping at the same time (yippee!). While I was in the midst of tidying up, an old hymn that I used to sing as a child came to my mind. The words to the first part of "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" are:

Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be

As I ironed, I thought about how I used to just sing the song. The words were just words set to a beautiful melody. As I have grown in my walk with Christ, the words are much more--they have such a deep meaning. I want to be closer to Him--everyday closer and closer. I love the intimate relationship that I have with Him. I want to grow in Him. I want to know His Word. Today I thanked God for the old hymn and its wonderful message. Yes, I want to be closer to Him!
